CANADA'S EDUCATION SYSTEM 

Canada’s Education system attracts students from all over the world. Though there is no federal department of education, it is maintained to a high standard by each of the provinces or territories and encompasses both publicly-funded and private schools.

WORK OPPORTUNITIES ON CANADIAN STUDENT VISA 

International students, while studying in Canada, can work up to 20 hours per week to meet their living costs. Academic year

The secondary school system starts in late January or early February. Likewise, vocational and university starts at the end of February or early March. Most of the secondary schools have three or four terms whereas universities and colleges have two-semester. Similarly, the exams are held at the end of each semester. Learning English

After graduation

Depending on the area of study students might have the opportunity to stay and work in New Zealand for up to four years initially. The graduate pathway has two steps, a post-study work visa that offers a student up to 12 months to find a job in a related field of study or an employer-assisted work visa that allows staying for either two years or three years to gain work experience related to a specific job.

The visa any student will need depends on the types of study one wants to enrol in and how long they want to stay in New Zealand. Anybody who is willing to go to New Zealand needs to have a valid passport with the right visa.

Documentations required

To apply for a visa, one must have the following documentation ready

  • A valid passport which must be valid for at least three months after your period of stay in New Zealand.
  • An acceptance letter from a New Zealand education provider, stating the minimum course duration, total tuition fees. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority must approve the course taken by an individual.

Additional documentation such as:

  • Academic documents like transcripts, diplomas, degrees or certificates
  • Student Visa Application form
  • Visa application fee
  • Tuition fee receipt showing payment to date

Likewise, students also have to show evidence that they have sufficient funds to cover their living expenses throughout the period of their stay. They need to show an amount of NZ$15,000 for a full year study or NZ$1,250 per month. This may include:

  • Bank statements
  • Financial responsibility of a sponsor to cover accommodation and living costs.
  • Evidence that you are leaving New Zealand after the completion of your program.
  • A scholarship program
  • A police certificate showing that you do not have any type of criminal record.
  • An X-ray certificate. An individual will need to have a chest x-ray if they are willing to stay in New Zealand for more than six months.
