Good News for Nurses: PTE-A Accepted by CGFNS International, US State Boards of Nursing and the Health Resources & Services Administration

The biggest announcement by concerned organizations and authorities in the USA have announced that applicants from all over the world who wish to work as nurses and in other healthcare-related fields in the United States can now take the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic.

PTE has recently been added to the list of authorized English Language testing services for international healthcare workers maintained by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

PTE is currently available to foreign nationals who wish to work in one of the seven non-physician health professions that have been identified, including clinical and medical technicians, licensed practical nurses, and registered nurses.

International health professionals from all over the world, including those from the Philippines, India, Nigeria, Jamaica, Nepal and Mexico, are greatly interested in working in the US.

PTE Academic has been added as a certified English Language test by HRSA. By providing a new testing option for nurses who wish to advance their careers in the USA, PTE Academic is helping us strengthen this important profession.

PTE Academic has now been included in the verification system of CGFNS International as a result of this approval. By evaluating and certifying their academic and professional qualifications, CGFNS International, a nonprofit, immigration-neutral organization, enables foreign-educated healthcare professionals to live and work in the nation of their choosing. They are the only organization recognized by the US Department of Homeland Security as capable of approving occupational visas for seven foreign healthcare professionals.

Additionally, PTE is now accepted for use by U.S. state boards of nursing for the purposes of granting nursing licenses.

Healthcare professionals can take the PTE Academic exam at one of the 87 testing locations in the United States or one of the more than 380 locations in 115 different countries as part of the visa application procedure.

PTE Academic is recognized by numerous medical organizations throughout the world, including the Graduate Entry Medical School Admissions System, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) (GEMSAS).

The other English language proficiency tests accepted by USA are IELTS and OET.
