Finally, I would like to tell you that if you do not explain the meanings of the words you use in languages other than English, your fluency and coherence, as well as lexical resource scores, will go down badly, thus preventing you from achieving a band 7.0 or higher in the IELTS Speaking Test.  But, remember: you should use English words wherever possible. Use local words and phrases only if you are sure that they do not have English equivalents.

If you do not know how to explain these words and phrases that you use on a daily basis, you can find articles on Wikipedia and on the thousands of blogs that explain these terms. There are no shortcuts, so you need to sit down and read these texts in order to improve your English language skills to pass any English proficiency tests, such as IELTSTOEFLPTECAE (C1 Advanced)KET (A2 Key), etc.

Bonus Tip: Even if you are mentioning the names of celebrities, you need to explain who they are and/or what they do. For example, you can say “I am going to talk about Ellen Degeneres who is primarily a television talk show host and also an actress, writer, producer and philanthropist. She is one of the most famous television presenters of all time.”.
